John Paul II Hospital sign

Medium computer printing
Year 1989

About this work

A sign identifying the John Paul II Hospital. The hospital conducted a survey among its patients about what a hospital stay brings to mind. The vast majority of responses revolved around hope and health. This helped me develop the concept for the sign. Health is often associated with the color green. Hope is a rainbow, and the hospital is a cross. The cross in the hospital sign is blue, like the staff's uniform. A good sign must be simple, both in terms of the number of elements it comprises and the number of colors used to create it. Hence, the rainbow is green.
