Comprehensive visual information project for LOT Polish Airlines

In 1984, Professor Ryszard Otręba was commissioned to design a comprehensive visual information system for LOT Polish Airlines. This was while the professor was still under contract for a year with the university in Sydney. At the professor's request, the client agreed to let me take over the project. I organized a six-person team of fellow designers and divided them into three sub-teams. This happened when we realized how vast and multifaceted the issue was. The work was divided into specific areas. My colleague Andrzej Krakowian and I initially prepared the basis for detailed, specific design problems. An analysis of the company's structure, the connections between its individual teams, the relationships between them, and our relationships with clients made us realize the enormity of the work. The contract with LOT stipulated two years to complete the work. Unfortunately, after less than a year, the director changed, and he terminated our contract. In those days, contracts did not include specific penalties for such situations. We were left with a completed portion of the project and a symbolic payment. From the plot created with Andrzej Krakowian, I decided to present a graph illustrating the structure of the company, its clients, and the relationships that connect them. Please note the two categories of issues identified: those that are subject to design, and those that should be considered during design.
