silver commemorative medal
About this work
From January 10, 1982, I collaborated with the Archbishop's Committee for Aid to Prisoners and Internees of the Archdiocese of Krakow. My participation in this noble endeavor lasted less than two years. In 1983, the Committee's initiators were preparing for the Holy Father's visit. I was asked to design and create a medal to be presented during Holy Mass at Krakow's Błonia Park. The medal was cast in silver and mounted in a calfskin case. The case provided space for the medal, but also for an address to the Holy Father, prepared especially for the occasion. I made three copies of the medal. The first, of course, was given to John Paul II; the second, as far as I know, is in the collections of the Archdiocese of Krakow, and the last is in my possession.
