ball joint
About this work
A connector for building three-dimensional structures from tubular elements. The team project – J Bożek, M Banaś-Majkowska, Z Majkowski, and J Nuckowski – was patented.
During that era, artists often undertook work related to the widespread and frequently appearing political propaganda for financial reasons. This propaganda, often in the form of large-scale displays, had to be mounted on structures made of steel pipes used for scaffolding. The connections of these scaffoldings lacked aesthetic value. Paradoxically, we, as the authors and contractors of this "exhibition," also suffered. Hence the concept of aesthetically correcting these connections. It turned out that, in addition to improving the aesthetics, it also facilitated the assembly of the structure. A single ball, using a single screw, connected three pipes in mutually perpendicular planes.
